Arizona
I have seen the future of the NFL, and it is the Arizona Cardinals.
Can I say it? Arizona reminds me an awful lot of the 1999 St. Louis Rams, and it’s not just because Kurt Warner is slingin’ the rock out of the shotgun - though that helps.
Arizona can put up points in a hurry. Two weeks ago, they hung 35 on the Jets in the second half of a game they lost by 21. Last week they scored 17 on the Bills scary quickly to turn a close game into a rout.
Arizona can score from anywhere on the field, in any fashion. Sunday, they returned a kickoff and a blocked punt for scores (the latter winning the game in OT) and Warner was again magnificent in leading his receivers on perfectly-timed 10-yard slant routes.
There’s no shortage of weapons on this team, as it seems everyone is fast, sure-handed and has a nose for the end zone. Their defense is opportunistic (which is code for “not great, but they force a ton of turnovers") and their special teams is nearly unparalleled.
The team is 4-2 in an unsightly division. They could easily finish the year 11-5.
The Arizona Cardinals: double digit wins.
Yes, I’m feeling just fine, thanks.
MAD LOVE to the desert birds who may finally, finally be on the road to somewhere kinda special.
