Brett Myers

We love stories like this.
Brett Myers allowed five runs and six hits in five innings. If that was where the story ended, we’re pretty certain you’d be left scratching your head wondering what was so special.
But, suppose we sweetened the deal a little bit. Suppose that same Brett Myers went 3-3 at the dish with 3 RBI, keying the Tasty Kakes to an 8-5 victory over the artists formerly known as the Brooklyn Dodgers. Do we have your attention yet?
That’s right, folks. The pitcher batted 1.000 at the plate and knocked in nearly half his team’s runs to provide the margin of victory. That’s cause for shock and celebration.
There’s nothing more unexpectedly sweet in a baseball game than watching a pitcher find success at the plate. C.C. Sabathia’s towering blasts. Micah Owings raking like he’s the starting first basemen.
However, no one, and I mean no one, could have possibly seen Brett Myers’ outburst on the radar. He’s a self-admitted “terrible hitter,” and was good for seven hits and one RBI all season.
Some pitchers are at the mercy of their offense to pull out the game. Others step up to the plate and try to do something about it.
MAD LOVE to Brett Myers for playing Ted Williams for a day and leading the Phightins to a 2-0 series lead!
