Chad Billingsley

It ain’t my fault.

That was the repeated phrase du jour for Mr. Chad Billingsley - losing pitcher for the Dodgers against the Phils in Game 2 of the NLCS.

“Pitch selection,” he cried, shifting blame to his catcher for the shortest outing by a Dodgers pitcher in the postseason since the year of Back to the Future.

Billingsley allowed seven earned runs in the first 2 1/3 innings, digging a hole not even Manny Ramirez and company could dig out of.

Listen, bro. You’re 24 years old and you’ve got a lot of great baseball ahead of you. Don’t become that dude in the clubhouse. You can shake off your catcher at any time. He’s not holding a gun to your head to throw a hanging slider.

That said, you better hope the blue man group can win two of three in the land of scrapple so you can get a chance to redeem yourself.

Oh, and by the way ... that’s seven earned runs in 2 1/3. Was your catcher telling you to throw batting practice?

TOUGH LOVE, Mr. Billingsley. Enjoy the next couple of games on the bench, it should be easy for you to blame others then.
