Chad Qualls

There are few indignities these days worse than being swept by the Padres.

It’s even tougher to deal with when your own team is in first place in the eact same division.

That’s the evil that fell on the Arizona Diamondbacks the last three days. And the primary evil doer on Wednesday was one Chad Qualls.

What’s happened to you this season, Chad?! You used to be an absolute bad ass.

In his Houston days, the guy was a beast. Even just last season, he struck out 78 batters in 79 innings and had a pretty sexy 3.05 ERA.

This year, though, he’s fallen off big time. He came into the game in the eighth inning with the 4-3 lead Randy Johnson gave him and left it three outs later being down 5-4.

Trevor Hoffman came in and struck out the side and the D-Backs were done.

It dropped Qualls’ record to 2-8 on the season, and he’s now blown seven save opportunites.

My peeople, he’s not even a closer! How does a NON-closer blow SEVEN saves?!? It’s tough to do.

Even more painful is that it kept the Big Unit from giving from fantasy team a much needed win!

And I can think of no better reason than to slap you with a hurtful does of TOUGH LOVE today, sir!
