Dice-K

I’m not gonna lie to ya ... it was really tough to pick a MAD LOVE champion for Friday.

And I’m not talking from the entire sports world as a whole, because that’s rarely easy to begin with.

I’m talking about from just one game!

Yes, the Red Sox thoroughly dismantled the White Sox on Friday, and they did so from pretty much every angle.

I wanted to give it to Dustin Pedroia at first. This guy’s been absolutely unstoppable the last two months, turning himself into one of the top three second basemen in the game.

Pedroia went 4-for-4 with three singles, a double, a walk, three runs scored and two stolen bases. The guy’s a crazy hitting machine lately.

However, even more amazing than that (and that’s really tough to do, trust me here) is the display Daisuke Matsuzaka’s putting on in ‘08.

I don’t know if you realize what’s going on with the $100 million Japanese sensation, but he’s pretty much keeping the Red Sox in the playoff race.

Dice-K won yet again Friday, throwing eight innings of dynamic shutout ball, allowing just TWO hits and TWO walks (both astounding totals for him) while striking out seven in the 8-0 win over the Pale Hose.

With the win, Dice-K is now - get ready for this - 16-2 on the year! He also has a startling 2.82 ERA with 124 strikeouts in just his second season in the league.

With all the pressure this kid’s had to pitch under, these numbers are absolutely phenomenal, and that’s why he’s getting an incredible amount of MAD LOVE from us today!
