Donnie Avery: Star in the Making

The days of The Greatest Show on Turf may be long gone, but don’t tell that to Donnie Avery.

Drafted in the second round out of Houston, Avery was actually the first receiver taken this past year. While Denver wideout Eddie Royal may have grabbed the Rookie Spotlight early, Avery has been making a case for a little light of his own over the last two weeks.

Marc Bulger’s new favorite target (sorry Big Game...) collected his first career touchdown during the Rams surprise upset of the Dallas Cowboys two weeks ago and had a second called back due to penalty. Then, he went off on Sunday against the Patriots.

Now, New England came away with the victory, but that wasn’t for a lack of effort on behalf of Avery. The rookie snagged a career high six balls for 163 yards and another score, after which he busted out a fantastic robot in the end zone.

With Stephen Jackson always being a health concern, having a playmaking threat like Avery available is necessary for the Rams. Having him on your fantasy team is essential for anyone looking to rack up points from the wide receiver position.

Remember, the Rams play in the NFC West with some really terrible defenses. Arizona hasn’t been bad, but Seattle and San Francisco are dreadful and should yield some opportunities for Avery to collect yards and scores to help your fantasy team.

No matter if you’re a fantasy player or just a fan of football in general, remember the name Donnie Avery and feel free to jump on the bandwagon while there’s still room.
