I saw Kyle Singler’s line from yesterday’s loss to West Virginia and I immediately considered giving him Tough Love today.

Then I looked at DeMarcus Nelson’s line right after that.

Lance Thomas’ certainly wasn’t any better.

Actually, the entire Duke team was insufficient on Saturday in their 73-67 loss to the Mountaineers. So, because of that, they’re all getting a collective brandishing of Tough Love.

Coach Mike Krzyzewski couldn’t seem to get the right players in the game at the right time, as the Blue Devils were outworked, outshot and outplayed in the second half, getting outscored by 11 and never seemingly in sync.

They shot a combined 5-for-22 from the three-point line (22%) and just 38% overall for the afternoon and Duke became the first #2 seed of the NCAA tournament to fall.

Unfortunately, they lived by the three all year and they subsequently died from it, as they’ve done in previous years as well. And because of that, they deserve Tough Love from us for not being able to find another way to pull this game out.
