ECU

A broad, crooked nose; a thick, heavy beard, and a one-eyed scowl that would make a grizzly bear flinch.
Ladies and gentlemen of college football, I give you Cinderella – the East Carolina Pirates!
The giant-killing boys of Conference USA did it again Saturday, beating down their second ranked opponent in as many games this year, with a 24-3 wallop over #8 West Virginia.
Last week, ECU opened their season with an upset over #17 Virginia Tech and managed to usurp Michigan’s second-straight opening-day disappointment and Southern Cal’s jump to #1 in the national polls as the top story in college football.
This win was even bigger, considering West Virginia came into this meeting with a 17-2 record against the men in purple, and let’s not forget, this was technically their third straight win over a Top 25 team, going back to ECU’s Hawai’i Bowl victory over #22 Boise State.
Love has to go to the team as a whole, but special recognition goes to coach Skip Holtz who’s got the once no-name program from Greenville, N.C. primed for a conference title. All we can hope is that Skip grows up to be as adorable as his old man, Lou!
MAD LOVE, ECU!
