Hornets

Can’t say we’re shocked at the result, you know?

I mean, the San Antonio Spurs - they of previous clutchtacular performances since before this decade even began - went out and won another Game 7 against an opponent that clearly had the wisdom of crowds cheering for them.

This isn’t a TOUGH LOVE borne out of frustration or ridicule. Nope, this is a celebratory pat on the back to a team that (along with the 2006 Saints) helped mend a broken city and provide some joy-starved citizens with a welcome escape from reality.

We know it’s not your time yet, Hornets. We know you were playing with house money all season. We know that in a year or two, once the Spurs need to be wheeled around the court, it’ll be your dynamic team that comes through in the clutch against overmatched opponents.

However, it would’ve been nice to see you win. All the love in the world has to go out to Chris Paul, for once again putting in a valiant effort.

Let’s also not forget Byron Scott. Lost in the shuffle of CP3 mania is how Scott has taken perennial losers in New Jersey and New Orleans and turned them into bonafide contenders.

Some TOUGH LOVE goes out to the hive in NOLA tonight for not getting the job done, but that doesn’t mean we’re loveless.

We look forward to seeing you again next year.
