Iverson v3.0

Let’s get something straight.
This is not an indictment of Allen Iverson. We’ve been huge fans of him since his Georgetown days, and what he did last night is nothing to sneeze at. A lot of players go their whole careers without scoring 24 points.
However, it was probably just not the kind of debut A.I. had in mind.
The Answer’s Piston debut was marred by defeat, as Detroit went down, 103-96.
See, Iverson was thoroughly outplayed down the stretch by Devin Harris. DeVo had a career-high 38 points and shot a Nets franchise-record 24 free throws. When you give someone that many free looks at the basket, he’s bound to make you pay. (Oops, pow, cliche!)
Iverson’s six assists are average for a point guard, which is the role he’s being asked to play in place of Chauncey Billups.
We hope that this is just a case of a man getting to know his team and his environment and not a sign of things to come.
TOUGH LOVE to the Answer for the tough night.
