Jayson Werth

I suppose when you hit three home runs and drive in eight runs - all by the fifth inning - you deserve to get a little MAD LOVE from us.
I think that’s fair, right?
Well, that’s what Philadelphia’s Jayson Werth did on Friday, taking the wood to Toronto starting pitcher David Purcey.
Werth his his first home run in the first inning, a three-run shot to the opposite field.
The second one? Almost identical to the first. He took an outside fastball deep to right, only this time the bases were full, giving him seven RBI in just two at-bats.
The fifth inning was when he wrapped up the power display, pulling a pitch into the left field seats for a solo shot, giving him a franchise record eight RBI on the day and becoming only the fourth player with as many as three home runs and eight RBI in a game in the last 50 years.
The other three? Mark Whiten, Fred Lynn and Bob Horner. An interesting quartet, to say the least.
So, congrats go out to Jayson Werth today, as we honor his three dingers with a triple play of MAD LOVE!
