Kerry Wood

It’s been a long time coming, but it looks like Kerry Wood is finally back to being 100%.

Well, it seems like that now, of course. Let’s just hope it stays that way.

On Monday, Wood was named the closer of the Cubs. It wasn’t easy, either.

He had to battle young phenom Carlos Marmol - he of the 100 mph heater and nasty slider - and veteran middle reliever Bob Howry.

Both of them were given fair shots to win the job, and both pitched well in the spring, yet Wood outdueled them and took the job over.

Arm injuries have derailed what should’ve been a Hall of Fame-style career for Wood, who came out of high school as one of the most highly touted pitchers of the last 15 years.

However, he’s battled the DL since after the 2003 season. This will finally mark his first season completely healthy and being counted on to play a large role in the team’s plans.

Because of that, we give out a great deal of MAD LOVE to Kerry Wood today!

Is that Eddie Vedder?

I think Kerry tore his rotator cuff when trying to pat himself on the back for winning the job.
