“Love is Live Tour” Is In Provo

Here I am, folks.
I’m chillin’ in the 45-degree weather that is Provo, Utah today, preparing for my first-ever Brigham Young home game.
It also just so happens to be Homecoming weekend in Provo.
I don’t really know what that means, to be honest with you, but I’m sure they’ll partying in their own special way.
I won’t deny the fact that I’m a little out of my element here. I’m not a Mormon, but I indeed have a Mormon faction of my family, and they’re terrific. They taught me to be a Cougar fan when I was young, and I’ve held strong to that ‘til this day. I know the history, the players, the aura - hell, I even know the fight song. (Wait, can I say “hell” in this article? Hmm, oh well. Too late now.)
But what I don’t know is how to act when hanging out here. I ask if there’s any tailgating. I get some blank stares.
I ask what time we leave for the 4:00 kickoff. I’m told 3:30.
I ask where to go to watch the Texas/Oklahoma game beforehand, and the closest thing there is to a sports bar here is a TGI Fridays.
Needless to say, just a tad different from going to N.C. State games or USC Trojan games, where 90 percent of the stadium’s population is drunk prior to game time, and they got that way by hanging outside the stadium six hours prior to the game’s actual starting time.
It’s cool, though. I’ll adjust. I’m sure it’ll be fun no matter what.
I just have to keep reminding myself this town abslutely lives for college football. That’s what they do. They’re gonna be pumped.
And I can’t wait. I just hope it lives up to my expectations.
Whatever the hell those are.
