Matt Grothe

The Bulls of South Florida surely didn’t make a solid case to remain in the Top 25 on Thursday night.
Cincinnati had them at their place and took them behind the woodshed, winning 24-10 in a game that was never close.
The main culprit for South Florida? Quarterback Matt Grothe.
The preseason All-Big East selection had an ugly 13-for-31 day for 174 yards with no touchdowns and three interceptions as the Bulls looked lost right from the get go.
Even when the team had a chance to make some noise late in the game, Grothe threw his fourth down pass nearly 20 yards clear of his closest receiver, giving the ball over to the Bearcats and ruining any chance of them maintaining their spot in the national rankings.
South Florida now sits in second-to-last place in the Big East, yet they’ll still somehow be a Top 25 team until Sunday.
And for that, we have to give them and their quarterback a little Tough Love today.
