Mid-week Football

I need more college football in my life.
I need to come home late on a Saturday night, in half a trance-like state, and be able to find the single-wing and shotgun spread to lull me to sleep.
If you think I’m dialing up anything other than the late-night replay of the 11:00pm Mountain West Conference showdown, you’re out of your non-believing mind.
You see, college football is best played under the lights and outside of the spotlight. It’s those little conferences with those nationally televised games that make provide life’s simplest pleasures. That’s why I love the fact that right now, and I mean right now, I’m watching Troy and Florida Atlantic. It’s the next best thing to being in the Sun Belt.
There’s something alluring about small colleges putting on a show right when this country needs it the most. A presidential debate? Psshaw ... that’s what DVR is for. Tuesday nights were made for football.
On a good week, I can watch college or pro football every single night in prime time. There’s the MAC on Wednesdays, the ACC or Pac-10 on Thursdays and the Big East on Fridays. This doesn’t even include, clearly, the full slate of college ball on Saturday nights (including the witching hour MWC or WAC contests, my personal faves), Sunday and Monday Night Football.
Yeah, there’s plenty more productive things to be than a couch potato. But, oooh! Look! Troy just scored another touchdown!
See what you guys are missing? It’s football ... on a Tuesday.
Time to give some MAD LOVE to offense. defense. acrobatic catches and bone-jarring hits.
What else were you going to watch? Two and a Half Men?
