Mississippi State’s D

Sure, this game had “trap” written all over it for Vanderbilt, and Mississippi State made them pay for that - in a big way.
Sylvester Croom’s squad put together a terrific defensive game plan, which absolutely dominated the Commodores in the 17-14 win.
What I wanna know, though, is how the Dores scored even THAT many points, considering the Bulldogs held them to a ridiculously low 107 total yards of offense.
That, my friends, could be the least amount of yards I’ve ever heard of from a ranked football team this late in the season.
You just don’t hold teams to 107 yards every day. Vanderbilt could only muster 62 yards throught the air, on 8-of-20 passing, with two interceptions.
And if it wasn’t for one-yard and two-yard TD runs on the ground, the team’s 45 yards on 26 carries would’ve seemed embarrassing at best.
Vandy is no offensive juggernaut, by any means, but they’ve still gotta do better than this. If you’re getting just 107 yards against Mississippi State, just think of what’ll happen when you have to travel to Georgia next week, or Florida in three weeks, or Tennessee after that.
But for the Bulldogs, this was pure genius. It was easily their best performance of the season to date, and it moved their record to 2-4 on the year.
