Mount St. Mary’s

Hey, congratulations Mount St. Mary’s! You made the NCAA tournament!

OK, you were already IN the NCAA tournament, but I think you know what I mean.

I was probably one of the few that sat at home and watched the Play-In game on Tuesday night instead of flipping over to American Idol or Dancing With the Stars.

Something tells me I didn’t miss anything over there.

Coppin State was trying to become the first 20-loss team to ever win a game in the Big Dance, and they actually held a halftime over the Mounts. However, they couldn’t hold on to it in the second, as Mount St. Mary’s pulled away to win by nine.

Coach Milan Brown’s squad won its first NCAA tournament game in three attempts behind Jeremy Goode’s 21 points and Chris Vann’s 13. Vann actually scored his 1,000th career point in the game as well.

Of course, they now get the pleasure of traveling to Raleigh to take on the Tar Heels of North Carolina, who will be playing less than 15 miles from their own campus in the Tourney’s “First” Round on Friday.

They probably won’t be going any further than that, so let’s take this time to give The Mount their moment in the sun and let them enjoy this well deserved dose of MAD LOVE!
