Peanuts and Crackerjacks

There are certain traditions that have simply ingrained themselves within the wonderful world of sports.
There’s no doubting the fact football season wouldn’t be the same without tailgating, and a good night at an NBA game should definitely include alcohol and some fantastically overpriced arena food.
When it comes to Major League Baseball, there are two particular products as much a part of the game as the seventh inning stretch. To be honest, it’s impossible to imagine a baseball game without them, and depending on your teams take on the aforementioned stretch, it really is impossible to make it through a game without hearing about them.
Most of you have probably caught on already, and for those that haven’t, I’m talking about Peanuts and Cracker Jacks.
I realize that’s a strange topic, but when I heard that the Seattle Mariners were toying with the idea of creating “Peanut Free” zones, I couldn’t help but wonder why.
I might not understand the plight of individuals who are allergic to peanuts, but come on, I’m pretty sure ingestion’s typically required to set off a serious reaction. I mean what’s next, alcohol free zones to make sure children don’t sip residue from the floor?
Sadly, all I can do now is give up some TOUGH LOVE for Peanuts and Cracker Jacks, because they’ve done nothing wrong and should never be forcedly removed from a ballpark.
