Phillies!

The Phightin’ Phills are back!
Remember last year, when they erased a big division deficit to overtake the Mets to win the N.L. East?
Well, amigos, Citizens Bank Ballpark is coming down with a phull-phledged case of Phillie Phever once again. The purple pinstriped ones are just a half game back of the Mets after a four-game sweep of the Dodgers.
Brett Myers, who two weeks ago was toiling in the minors, pitched seven gritty innings of shutout ball to lead the Phanatics to their most recent victory. After a complete game shutout in his last outing, that runs his scoreless innings streak to 16.
The lineup provided the offense unselfishly, with some small ball and devilish run-manufacturing tactics that would make the purists proud.
With a two-game set launching this afternoon against the Mets, Philly has a chance to turn the division race into a bonafide soft pretzel, rubbing salt into the Mets wounds and knotting up the standings.
So, head to your favorite South Street haunt, order up a cheesesteak, and get ready to cheer like it’s 2007.
The Phills are back on Phire. Wash down that MAD LOVE with a Yuengling, pholks.
