R. Clemens - Part 2

I’m thinking now that Roger Clemens is getting in return the same kind of treatment he gave his fans the past few years.
He would string along the fans and owners for the first three months of the season, then take a check he didn’t rightly deserve. Perhaps negotiating such sweet (overpaid) deals actually made him less likable?
I’m all for guys making money, but Clemens was having his way with the media, the fans and MLB while deciding if he would play. The nonsense he was serving up has come back to “shoot him in the ass”.
Enough with the interviews, Roger!
What’s next? Oprah?!
TOUGH LOVE goes out to Roger Clemens all week long!

And the irony is Clemens already had enough in his belt to get to the Hall of Fame at the time in question that he was first injected with steroids. Four 20-win seasons, nine seasons of 200+ strikeouts, as well as two nine-inning 20-strikeout games. All this before 1998, when he was alleged to have first took steriods. Plus, Clemens struck out more batters (292) in 1997 than in any other year, and, with the Blue Jays, won more games (21) than in any other year as a non-member of the Red Sox.
“The Rocket” had the goods to go to Cooperstown. Now the credibility is nothing more than dust in the wind.

I just watched some the press conference Clemens held today. The first thing he said as he began to take questions was to extend his condolences to his college coach, who had recently lost his son. Then Roger added that he couldn’t attend the funeral because he, “had to be here.” Fine, Roger, extend your sympathy to your college coach. But don’t trivialize your absence from the funeral. It occurs to me Clemens would have had control over when he held this press conference. Could it have waited a day, or been held earlier in the same day, so he could attend a funeral? I’m sure it could have. He came off like a prick, so much so I cussed him out and walked away for a second. Then, I came back and turned off his display of b.s.

The reaction that both of you have had is exactly why Clemens is so pissed off. He became the poster boy for this ridiculous Mitchell Report without any questions and despite the fact that the report is not comprehensive. It’s as if they found his name and stopped there. Doesn’t anyone find it curious that the investigation was limited to NY and SF. Any names that came up were from informants that Mitchell had there and only there. No attempt to expand the search-he even admitted as much in the press conference and instantly called the entire document into question.
Quick name me five other players in the Mitchell Report. Can’t come up with five off the top of your head? Exactly the point. Even if Clemens is guilty (he’s taking some huge steps that make me think he’s not) the fact that he was basically hung out for public scorn by himself is enough motivation for him to fight. You know there are players that are guilty and weren’t name out there. Should they get a pass because Mitchell found his goat and stopped there? That, Brad, is b.s.

Rocket had every ability to defend himself when Mitchell was asking the questions. He neglected to do so.
Put yourself in his position (presuming you’re really innocent...I know, not easy). Wouldn’t you be screaming “I’m innocent you pompous prick” to GMitchell? I know I would have. But I’m not a ‘roid freak.
Please, Rocket. Spare us.
p.s. I’d love to be in those defamation depositions. Classic. (Hint: the lawsuit won’t get there, because Rocket has to PROVE falsity. Good luck.)

You know, the funny thing is, as far as public opinion is concerned (which is really all this boils down to?), he really would do some good to go on Oprah. Heh.
