America’s favorite batting practice pitcher is back!

Sidney Ponson tossed this gem of a stat line: 2.1 IP, 7 ER, 8 H, 0 SO. Awesome.

Ponson’s season ERA was raised from 4.19 to 4.67 in the contest. Yikes! The Yanks are falling apart so quickly, that the words “Carl Pavano” sound like “Ave Maria” at this point.

The man has been known to blow up from time to time, he’s allowed seven runs twice already this season, but this was the fastest he was able to reach lucky sevens. Is there any pitcher in baseball who is more off when he’s off than Sid the Skid?

The fact that he coughed up a lung against the team with the worst popgun offense in the A.L. doesn’t help matters much. The Blue Jays, evidently, think those runs can carry over like cell phone minutes - but they don’t. The Jays won 14-3; it was the Yankees’ worst loss of the season.

It was an outing that was so ugly, you still wouldn’t touch it after drinking a whole 12-pack.
